A love letter to the noir genre, Nighthawks tells the story behind the characters in Edward Hopper’s legendary painting.
Kent Allen is a private eye in Manhattan, 1951, drawn into working for a local gangster to investigate a series of death threats sent to the mobster’s girlfriend and stop them before they’re carried out. His investigation gets him in and out of trouble again and again as he tracks down the would-be killer, but discovers that just because someone’s holding the gun doesn’t mean they’re the one pulling the trigger. He’ll have to figure out who’s really behind the threats, or he’ll be in the crosshairs as well.
Early Praise for Nighthawks
‘Nighthawks’ captures noir so perfectly, I could smell the cigarettes, whiskey, and perfume right through the page. Read it.”
Travis Webb, creator of Starlite
“The first true American genre is the western, no debate. The second, arguably is Crime Noir. Brian has crafted a story rich in the history while still blazing a fresh path through a whiskey soaked concrete jungle.”
Michael Tanner, creator of Junior Braves of the Apocalypse
